An absolute monster of a band on the Norwegian scene, making waves and deservedly so are Kanaan With their complex forays through free improv, kraut and jazzy, psychedelic explorations, yet with a flow that’s obscenely natural, Kanaan are hybridizing the European heavy psych sound with conviction and panache.
Diverse and eclectic, Kanaan colossally weighty riffs and electrifying grooves expansively and intuitively traverse territory between stoner, krautrock and psychedelic free jazz without ever losing a firm grip on a foundation of convulsing, fuzzy density.
Kanaan’s immense and experimental heaviness is provocatively multidimensional, a mesmerizing blend of contrast between deep distortion with shimmering moments of tension and elegantly placed abstraction.
Do not be fooled into the assumption that Kanaan jazzy or psychedelic tendencies detract from a seriously burly, crunchy and intensely fuzzy backbone, this band will have you stomping, swaying, and shaking your head in disbelief at the brute force of their impactful riffs.
