When describing music and the word psychedelic is employed, this can mean many things. From just a hint to atmospherics, tones and textures or even just visual stylistics. When referring to our next lineup addition, however, psychedelic in its true and full sense of the word is exactly what we mean.
Høstsabbat 2022 is extremely excited to welcome the fully psychedelic, world music experience that is Gunerius & Verdensveven to its lineup.
To experience Gunerius & Verdensveven is like stepping back in time to the streets of Istanbul in the '70s. And surprisingly even a disco in the '80s.. or an experimental jazz club in the ’90s.
A brilliantly bold blend of dark folk, Afrobeat, Latin, jazz, and even traditional Norwegian influence melds with experimental noise at times and plays fearlessly amongst beautifully stark, tender, acoustic meanderings and thumping techno beat.
Amidst this immense melting pot of influence, the list of instruments used is too exhaustive to even fit here in our humble intros, but between the use of the traditional oud, tribal percussive beats, synth and even winds, and when they appear, we find a shimmering gem in the vocals of the mastermind behind the project, Thomas Gunerius Bergsten which take hold of your soul with an unyielding and beguiling textural embrace.
